Coffee Stories: A Sustainable Cafe inside a Shipping Container

Located in the middle of East Geelong Golf Club in Victoria, you will find a redesigned shipping container designed to provide the community with nourishing eats and specialty coffee from a local roaster.

Ben Waters, the owner, sourced the shipping container from Brisbane in 2019. It arrived dusty, bright blue, and in need of a lot of work. The dream was to always fit out a shipping container so he and his business partner, Jarrod, welcomed the challenge. The project took two years to transform the container into the charming, humble coffee spot it is today.

"Our philosophy for Mercy is good, simple things, done well"

Their bench is designed for the two goals of efficiency and consistency. Their set-up consists of a white Sanremo 2GRP Café Racer, a Markibar Izaga Grinder, and an Eazy V3 Auto tamp.

The main drawcard for the location on the golf course was setting up in such a natural, beautiful area where there had been nothing before. Their main goals at Mercy are to support local businesses, be active in the community and provide visitors with a good time!

Watch below our chat with Ben Waters, the owner of Mercy to learn more about their story.
