Sanremo Spotlight: Calēre Coffee

Calēre Coffee takes its name from the traditional Latin Word meaning “to care” or “to be warm”, which perfectly describes the feeling you experience when you enter this Japanese-inspired hole-in-the-wall cafe.

The founder and owner, Alicia Feng, decided to open this little nook on Gertrude Street, Fitzroy to be the opposite of the high-energy, fast turn-over establishments we have grown accustomed to. Instead, Calēre offers a place you can escape, relax, and fulfill your soul with warmth and personalised attention.

"Does Melbourne need another cafe? The answer is yes, if it has something different to offer!"

Its strong reputation as specialty is well deserved due to the wide and wild choices of coffees they serve. Ranging from milk-based, frozen espressos, batch brews, and pour-overs. Serving Ona Coffee’s monthly full rotation of 10+ different coffees, to Terroir Laboratory Coffee Roaster, you will find a selection of top-notch competition offerings. Alicia also sources excellent green beans from China Yunnan, Taiwan, and invites skilled roasters to collaborate with their green beans.

The best part is that if you are interested to learn more about your brew, the friendly staff are more than willing to share their knowledge and education. To pair with their sophisticated coffees, they have an arrangement of homemade cakes and pastries, a special shout-out to their soft, spongy Oolong tea roll cake, and their Basque burnt cheesecake.

Calēre Coffee in their 9m2 home truly understands the meaning of quality over quantity.
